VOTING FOR THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
Section 1: Elections will be held on the first meeting of every calendar year or as soon as possible, preferably no later than the 28th of February, unless there are unforeseen circumstances that require elections to be postponed. For the election to be valid at least 50% of the clubs active membership in good standing must be in attendance. All Active members in good standing, except the active state liaison, will receive one vote, in the event of a tie the state liaison shall vote; no proxy voting is acceptable. A notice of 14 days must be given to the membership.
Section 2: The current State Liaison will preside over all elections and in good faith will not endorse any candidate in any verbal, non-verbal, or written ways. All nominees will be treated with equal consideration.
Section 3: Nominations can take place by one of two methods: in-person through a nomination and a second (neither of which can come from the nominee), or prior to the election, by a public notification to all members of the intent to hold nominations prior to the meeting as to set the voting ballots. This decision of what type of nomination will be decided by the Executive Board by 2/3 vote in favor of either method, and will be made and notified to the members no less than 14 days before the scheduled elections.
Section 4: Candidates will be nominated from the general membership of the club and may not self-nominate. If the nominations take place in person, a nominee must be in attendance to run for office. If the nominations take place prior to the elections, the nominee must be present at the election to be considered for the desired position. The nomination also requires a second from another MCYR member.
Section 5: In the event of extreme circumstances where an individual is unable to attend the election, but he still wishes to be nominated and run for office, the individual in question may inform the executive board prior to the election meeting. In the event that this happens, the executive board will meet to determine if the circumstance merits a valid excuse to allow the individual to remain on the ballot. If the Executive Board decides by 2/3 majority that the absence of the nominee is excusable, he shall remain on the ballot as if he were present at the meeting.
